Provenance & Authenticity

The human-made standard: what should a collection have to prove?

The Miller CollectionSeptember 8, 2026 0

This collection acquires only work where a person observed the subject and made the object by hand. Easy to say. Harder to evidence.

So: what would you require before you accepted that claim? A dated field study? Studio process photography? A signed statement from the artist? Nothing at all, if the provenance chain is clean?

Whatever the room converges on, we will publish as the standard this archive holds itself to.
